A passion for the North Wales landscape and a desire to encourage more tourism drove the business’ partnership with artist, Anthony Garratt. In the second year of the sponsorship two large paintings were created and placed in iconic Snowdonia locations. High was a double sided canvas that floated on an anchored vessel on Llyn Llydaw, while Low was suspended 250 feet underground in the Llechwedd Slate Caverns. The high profile exhibits attracted national media interest and were seen by over 500,000 visitors. Anthony Garratt has been inspired to further explore the idea of exhibiting paintings in natural surroundings and Menai Holiday Cottages has enjoyed an increase in business. Staff became involved in the project and discussions are being held about future collaborations. The judges called this a “lovely partnership demonstrating real mutual benefit and sustainability” and saw it as an excellent model for other tourism businesses.

NOMNOM Chocolate

The West Wales chocolate manufacturer saw real synergy in partnering Wales Millennium Centre on its work for the spectacular City of the Unexpected. The extraordinary event marked the centenary of writer Roald Dahl and NOMNOM worked with young people on the design and manufacture of the Nice’n’Nasty chocolate bar for the occasion. They designed the wrapper and the accompanying marketing material and the judges praised the clear commercial objectives of the project, as well as its future potential.

Working Word

The Cardiff PR agency supported the city’s first Book Festival, assisting the organisers with marketing, branding, PR and social media. It created a clear brand for the 3-day festival and became involved in every aspect of the event. Working Word broadened its experience in the arts sector and its staff enjoyed engaging with an enriching new project. The Cardiff Book Festival team say that the event would simply not have been achieved without the business’ input.
