The search is on for the best in creative partnership as Arts & Business (A&B) Cymru launches its 21st annual awards ceremony.

The Awards, which encourage, acknowledge and celebrate exemplary partnerships between the private sector and the arts, reflect the broad range of work undertaken by A&B Cymru. Admiral Business of the Year
Legal & General Arts Award

For the 3rd year, the crucial role that individuals play in supporting the arts across Wales is being recognised by the A&B Cymru Philanthropy Award. Personal generosity is playing an increasingly crucial part in Welsh cultural life and A&B Cymru has an important role in encouraging public recognition for this method of arts support.

As well as cash sponsorship, the ceremony is made possible by staunch in-kind support from a range of Wales based businesses, including Carrick Creative, Celtic Spirit, Flightlink, Flower Lodge, Fruitapeel, John Lewis Cardiff, Llanllyr Source, Orchard Media & Event Group and Park Plaza, Cardiff.

The award winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges who have expertise in practical art forms, sponsorship and the aims of the private sector. The individuals who will judge the business partnership categories are: North Wales based artist Cefyn Burgess, Vice Chair of the University of Wales, Margaret Evans, distinguished broadcaster Beti George and Liam Giles, Managing Director of digital marketing agency Spindogs. For the first time in 2014, the winner of the Business Adviser of the Year will be judged separately by two past recipients of the prize – they are Director of West Coast Energy, Paula Jewson and Mary Sinclair-Porter Customer Experience & Strategic Service Development Manager at Legal & General. The successful individuals and companies will once again receive trophies specially commissioned for the ceremony. This year they will be designed and made by an internationally renowned glass artist with a 20 year career, Jane Beebe.

Arts & Business Cymru says...

Speaking at the Awards launch on 3 December, A&B Cymru’s Chief Executive, Rachel Jones said:

“We are delighted to see our awards ceremony coming of age in 2014. This flagship event has grown in both size and stature over the years and it is truly inspiring to be able to celebrate the support that the private sector in Wales gives to the arts, even in a challenging economic climate. Having had the privilege of working with many innovative and exciting partnerships in the last 12 months, I very much look forward to seeing those projects nominated for the 2014 Awards.”
