Praising Perfect Partnership
The best creative partnerships between business and the arts were recognised at the 22nd annual Arts & Business Cymru Awards ceremony, sponsored by Valero, at Wales Millennium Centre on 1 July. The winners, ranging from individual supporters to major companies, received trophies specially commissioned from South Wales based sculptor, Sara Myers. High profile Welsh performers, including Sian Phillips, Hannah Daniel, Mark Lewis Jones, Casualty’s Sunetra Sarker, Julian Lewis Jones and Richard Mylan joined singers Rebecca Evans and Sophie Evans and designers David Emanuel and Anna Ryder Richardson to present the awards at a sell-out black tie ceremony. The winners and guests were entertained by dancers from Jukebox Collective and former members of the hit choir, Only Boys Aloud thanks to sponsorship from Waterstone Homes.
The Awards encourage, acknowledge and celebrate exemplary partnerships between the private sector and the arts and reflect the broad spectrum of work undertaken by A&B Cymru across the country. The winners included businesses ranging from an independent city centre bar to international energy giants. Each had clearly defined objectives for partnering the arts – enhancing its brand, reaching a specific target market, playing an active part in the community or training and developing its staff.
