A&B Cymru Awards 2018: 25 Years of Celebrating Creative Collaboration

The search is on for Wales’ best creative partnerships in a milestone year
The Arts & Business Cymru Awards mark a major milestone in 2018 with its 25th annual ceremony. The Silver Jubilee celebration will take place on stage at Wales Millennium Centre on Friday 25 May and the search is now on for the best in creative partnership across the country.
The Awards, which for a quarter of a century, have encouraged, acknowledged and celebrated exemplary partnerships between the private sector and the arts, continue to reflect the broad range of work undertaken by A&B Cymru. The 2018 ceremony is sponsored for the 8th year by Global Energy Company Valero which headlines a wide ranging list of supporters, both new and longstanding.

The crucial role that individuals play in supporting the arts across Wales is once again being recognised by the Robert Maskrey Award for Arts Philanthropy. Personal generosity plays an increasingly important part in Welsh cultural life and A&B Cymru has a major role in encouraging public recognition for this method of arts support.

In addition to the cash sponsors of the awards, A&B Cymru works with a range of event partners on its flagship ceremony, all of whom are central to the success of the evening. They are media partner Orchard Media & Events, Cardiff Airport, Carrick Design and Print, Celtic Spirit Company, FlightLink Wales, Flower Lodge, Freshwater, Intercity Removals, Llanllyr Source, Park Plaza Cardiff and Sunmagic Juices.
The award winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges who have expertise in practical art forms, sponsorship and the aims of the private sector. The individuals who will judge the business partnership categories are Karen Hodge of the Hodge Group; Ken Grayson, CEO of Peninsula Home Improvements; Karen MacKinnon, Director & Curator of Artes Mundi; and Public Affairs Manager of Valero, Stephen Thornton.
The Grant Stephens Family Law Adviser Award will be judged by Joanna Rees, Partner, Blake Morgan; last year’s winner, Jeremy Salisbury and the sponsor of the category, Grant Stephens.
The successful individuals and companies will once again receive trophies specially commissioned for the ceremony. The silver anniversary awards will be designed and made by Ann Catrin Evans, an internationally renowned sculptor and jeweller living and working in Caernarfon. Ann Catrin’s designs for the A&B Cymru Awards will reflect the significance of 25 years of partnership working.
