A&B Cymru Awards Launch 2019

We welcomed over 100 guests who had braved the cold January morning to attend the breakfast launch of the 2019 A&B Cymru Awards at Ffresh in Wales Millennium Centre.

Many exciting plans were unveiled for the 2019 ceremony, including a special award made possible by Valero to celebrate its 10th year as Principal Sponsor of the Awards. The Valero 10 will recognise the business or arts organisation judged to have had the most impact in transforming the landscape of partnership working in Wales during the past decade.

As Principal Sponsor, Valero heads an impressive list of Awards partners, representing a diversity of sector and geographic supporters for our flag-ship ceremony.  A full list of sponsors can be found here.

The Awards winners will once again receive specially commissioned trophies.  This year, they will be designed and made by Lampeter-based ceramicist Daniel Boyle.

Daniel’s design for the 2019 Awards symbolises partnership and collaboration – constructed from four materials which are held together by a copper lynch pin.  You can learn more about Daniel’s work here.

The highlight of the launch was undoubtedly the incredible musical performance from South African cellist, Abel Selaocoe courtesy of Sinfonia Cymru.  Melding classical music with South African influences, everyone in the room was transfixed by Abel’s mesmeric talent. He is a true virtuoso and you can catch him performing in Wales this spring with Sinfonia Cymru, check out their upcoming concerts here.

“I think everyone fell in love with Abel Selaocoe at the A&B Cymru awards launch this AM. Everyone needs a bit of afro/classical in the morning!”
Cathy Owens, Deryn Consulting

“Another fantastic morning with A&B Cymru at the awards launch event…including an incredibly moving cello solo from Abel Selaocoe.”
Jo Corbett-Simmons, Blake Morgan
